Update 45: Week of 11 Nov
Writing about gods, dragons, space mermaids, AIs, and more. Always with queer characters and with some art on the side.
Another tough month on the rise and I decided to be nicer with myself this month regarding writing goals. As in, they mostly consist of dreaming and thinking about writing - not that much writing itself. And plotting. Cuz I love that shit.
But, as such, I have no writing updates for you!
What I do have, however, are my usual three book recommendations, a mini-announcement that I left SFFInsiders, and a hint about a few indie book sales happening toward the end of this year (some with cool themes!)
I, myself, am participating in 5 of them! You’ll hear all about them if you stay tuned here (and warning: you’ll be getting emails outside of the regular times about these sales).
Outside of that, check out another art piece I decided to post on TikTok. If anybody has seen any of my videos on interviews, you’ll probably recognize it, but here’s how my background came about to be ;)'
Reading recs
Three more books from my TBR (if you’ve read any of these, let me know your thoughts and if it should jump to the top of my pile!)
Gunslinger to the Stars (Gunslinger Trilogy Book 1) by Joe Vasicek
The name's Sam Kletchka. Perhaps you've heard of me: captain of the Star Runner, military contractor for Earthfleet, and interstellar privateer. But before all that, I was a hired gun, freelancing across the galaxy one gunslinging job at a time.
Under an Azure Sky - Elysia Dayne: Book One by Wil Chan
Elysia Dayne is a renowned hero, mercenary, and monster slayer famed for killing a dragon in single combat. At least, that's how the bards tell it. However, there was a time when she thought that dragons were beautiful.
The Year's Midnight (Death's Lady Book 1) by Rachel Neumeier
A gifted psychiatrist, Daniel Dodson is perfectly aware that he's in a tough place personally following the death of his wife. Then a mysterious new patient offers a welcome professional distraction.
If you’d like your book or favourite read shown here, drop off their names and links in the comments! If it seems like something up my alley, I’ll share it in the next newsletter :)
And lastly, find the kitty!
